Not what you were expecting??? Me either.

But it’s exciting, I’m quite happy about the unconventional Christmas Decorations that are going up around here. These decorations mean that hopefully, fingers crossed (if you are superstitious, which I’m not so I don’t know why I said that ) I will have an actual real working TV by Christmas.

I can see our family staring Zombie-like at the screen muttering "Wow moving pictures" through drool covered lips in the near future. I like this image.

Dad has been around helping us. I love my Dad he is truly amazing. Mum and I are the dreamers, all my life it’s been the same. We have come up with the ideas and no matter how crazy difficult they turn out to be Dad has always just responded with "Uh huh, yep" and then gone off and devoured books or trawled the internet till he came up with a solid plan to bring our dreams into reality. Plus he’s funny. Dad has a totally warped sense of humour, he loves drawing you into a story so that you believe he’s deadly serious and you’re hanging off his every word ’till he ends with a statement like "…and that’s why all the scientists want you to believe that the world is round"

Most building projects have a running joke, something that we just need to mention to crack us all up. Usually something born of a mistake and if at all possible some way of teasing Glenn because he’s new to all this wall moving business.

DSC00763This Building project theme was proudly brought to you by the Numbers 1,2,3 and the letter A

We thought we were so clever numbering the gyprock first before cutting chunks out of it. That way, when it came to covering over the pipe the same gyprock could be slotted back into place, wall building by numbers. Only that’s how far our brilliant for thinking took us. We started numbering up the wall so when we needed to cut more holes lower and in between we ended up with the totally logical numbering system that reads like this:

2

1a

1

3

and no I’m not letting Dad teach the kids Maths.

The internal lounge room wall plumbing by the way is so that we can mount the TV on the wall without dangling pull cord wiring in front of the baby.

Dad took this photo, he had just said something funny that escapes me now and I’d turned back to laugh. Dad’s response to this photo, "Great now it looks just like a staged look at me drilling into a wall photo"

So here is the more realistic non staged version. Oh and yes I am renovating in a sun dress.

I like this photo. Glenn and I don’t really have that many couple shots, it’s just a shame you can’t see our faces, it would have been nice if we’d just looked over and smiled hey? Sorry Dad yes I’m picking on you. But it’s because I love you so much.

I had a sudden urge to leave a time capsule behind in one of the wall spaces. But as it was a sudden urge I hadn’t prepared one earlier so I just drew on the wall inviting future people to come to this blog. Well this place really is my time capsule anyway. It would be very cool if someone tried to track us down in the future, maybe I’ll make a proper one for the next hole we bash in the wall. DSC00774

Anyhoo, I liked our decorating weekend. I was fun, not sure how Christmassy it made the house look, unless the light covering of white plaster dust on all the furniture makes you think of snow. I’mmmm dreeeeaming of a plaster-dust Christmas just like the…….

Oh and Dad came around to help again today and the new piece of plaster removed from the wall is appropriately numbered 3.142(a) of course.

Your dad is awesome! I wish mine was handy. Love him to pieces, but he doesn’t lift a finger to help us renovate. I’m glad though because we’d just end up with things kind of wompy.
