May I introduce, after one mad hour of frantic costuming, Super Girl, Bat Girl, The Green Lantern and The Shadow.

Go on say I did a good job, I need the encouragement.

Yesterday afternoon was this lot’s church kid’s club Super Hero Dress Up Day. Being the organised and decisive family that we are (ha ha) only one of them had any idea of what they would like to be one hour before they were meant to leave.

This brings me to a major chunk of parental advice: Keep anything that has dress up potential. We have an old wardrobe in the garage that is full of funky old clothes, scraps of material and any costumes I’ve made over the years. That way when your darling angel, who was sure they would just go as a fairy till one hour before you leave, starts to go all red and puffy round the eyes and blubbers over a quivering bottom lip that “Fairies aren’t really heroes….and…and….they use magic not super powers….and it’s not what the form said we should dress up as……” you can simply say “That’s ok honey I’ll see what we have lying around” oh  and practice face painting, it pays to have rad face painting skills.

Very cool superheroes! Is it weird that I have a pile of facepaint, a huge box of dressups and lots of bits and pieces…and had it before we ever had one kid?

Comes from working at a kids camp where they do themed camps during school holidays…most recent was rockstar…funfun…

  2. Madeline says:

  3. Sarah says:

    Awww thank you guys.
And Bec it may be a little weird to have all that by the worlds general standards but I think you are a new level of awesome.

I too have had dress ups for a very long time pre kids. Its because I very much love dress ups and dress up parties and all the rest. People DO think its weird to keep it al, but I KNOW it is good 😀 I love your costumes, they are great and particularly awesome for such short notice 🙂

did Sabi think she was going swimming?????
I too have dress up clothes, face paint and No kids!!!!!!

  6. Sarah Slaven says:

Yes she did, she thought it was very strange that I was putting them on top of her pants and she kept saying “A BA BA???” (Means Bath Bath but works for swimming pools too) She got over it when she saw the others though she must have thought, oh well Mummy’s obviously gone a little crazy today and dressed us all weird today.
