Oh yes she has, well baby talk anyway. She said her first word on Sunday but we held off declaring it until we were sure it wasn’t just a one off. You see we have a habit of calling every one up to celebrate our youngest’s achievements like the time she rolled over. Only to have her point blank refuse to ever do it again, not for another 2 months, not till we were just about to race off to the doctors in tears because she will never know how to roll over. How will she ever get out of bed?? Sorry I get my weeks worth of sleep on Saturday mornings when Glenn, the darling that he is, lets me sleep in and today as you know is Friday, ooh napkin* (too obscure??)
Anyway were was I. That’s right words!! well babble. On Sunday Sabi said…..Drum roll please…."Uh Oh".
Impressive hey, but she means it and says it a lot, mostly when ever she see’s one of her siblings headed her way. Like she knows there’s going to be trouble, "Uh Oh" fairly ominous first words, I hope this isn’t one of those premonition type things.
But much more impressive than that and just in time for fathers day Sabi said "Mama"!!! Yay!! sorry Glenn. She started last night with "Um mar" and I’m thinking oh no this child is already a little dobber, but thankfully she managed to rearrange the syllables.
Of course now that I have said this you just know what is going to happen. Mum is going to spend the whole of her next visit sing songing "Uh Oh" and "Mama" at her and Sabi is going to sit there starring blankly as tight lipped as a mafia hit man under interrogation.
*reference to Miss Bates from the Gwyneth Paltrow Emma, pretty bad movie but we watch it all the same.
Aw! She’s cute. Congrats little Sabi. “Uh-oh” seemed to be every one of my children’s—except my youngest one’s—first word. My youngest was “more” since she could sign it before she could talk, but it came out like “mo”.
I loved Miss Bates in the Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow. She did an awesome job with that hideous laugh. And we always quote, “Try not to shoot my dogs.”
