She is so close to leaving the world of Baby behind her and leaping across the chasm into the crazy adventure land known as toddlerdom. Every day rewards her with a new achievement and I find myself staring transfixed at her determined gaze as she puzzles out the answer to yet another challenge.
Today she learnt "cruising around the furniture" as my mum calls it, and fittingly she did it for the first time at Mum’s in front of her sisters, brother and all of the cousins. This is the stage where babies pull themselves up and walk around the lounge room, hand over hand on the lounge chairs for support, with all the adult females in the room clapping and squealing encouragements. She even, bold little girl that she is, braved a gap between chairs and considered for a tantalizing one hand reaching through the air moment risking the jump from lounge to coffee table. I’m feeling that tingling mother pride build up under my skin just thinking about her. I’m so enamoured by this little girl and so thankful that she is a part of our lives.
Oooo…how very exciting! I love the cruising phase. And, when they make the leap…oh. my. sheer bittersweet joy!
