As of this weekend gone, our beenie girl is officially the laziest baby we have had. Both Lilly and Eli walked when they were 9mths and Alanah walked on her actual birthday. Actually Eli walked when he was 9 mths, ran when he was 10mth and just before he was 1 and still officially 11mths he took his little plastic table and chairs down to our front fence, stood on the table put the chair over the fence, climbed over the fence onto the chair and took off down the road. Looking at Sabrina I find this memory impossible, she is just so little, tidgy even and nowhere near ready to walk.
I made her a princess hat because Alanah planned this party and we were all to come as local inhabitants of a faraway magical land, or something along those lines. Only it was such a hot and steamy day I took it off her after awhile as I thought she probably wouldn’t forgive me if all the photo’s from her 1st birthday had trickles of sweat running down her forehead.
She still looks like a princess to me.
Sabrina played her first game of pass the parcel. She liked the large amounts of paper being torn up and thrown around the place. She also like the Iggle Piggle toy and chocolate Buttons she won. She wasn’t too keen on the sit still and wait your turn bit though. In the end what with the busy social life of the under one’s, a suspect rash and someone desperately needing a nap there was only three little ones for the pass the parcel so It wasn’t as scary as I thought. No tears.
Sabrina had her first chocolate dummy, a family party tradition. Spoon a little melted chocolate into a patty case and stick a marshmallow into it. When it sets, the marshmallow becomes the teat of the dummy and you get one very messy chocolate covered baby no matter what the age of the child eating it actually is. Lillian was a very, well not so patient teacher.
The cake which I was informed needed to have on it, a princess castle, a unicorn and a giant one shaped candle. That list of instructions threw me for a bit but I’m quite happy with the results even though it took 3 trips to the shops hunting for a plastic unicorn. Who knew Unicorns were so hard to find.
The credit in the end goes to Glenn who went out unasked on his lunch break and found one in the city. I think he may have had a slightly selfish motive though as he was pretty sure I was going to have a fully fledged psychotic moment if a horned equine didn’t turn up immediately and he really didn’t want to do the party by himself.
Notice how she’s not wearing the princess dress while opening the presents. This is because we completely forgot about the presents and I mean completely. After all the guest left (probably wondering why I didn’t care about their gifts) I got changed and started washing the dishes then mum comes up to me and says "Um, Sarah, what about all these presents??"
Oops, I’m blaming it on having a gall stone attack during the night and being on strong pain killers that made me a little loopy. Anyone out there know how to get ride of gall stone without having to go to hospital for an opp???
Sabrina having a go at opening her collective present from us and far away relatives. I know It may be a bit big for her now but we really didn’t need any more baby toys.
Oh my goodness, my baby is one!
Yey!
Aunty Jill has a fettish for paper bags, especially ones with string handles. Uncle Pete thought this was so funny cause I seem to have a lot of paper bags and can’t seem to throw them out, parting with such items is difficult for me…… Little Bean must take after big Bean in some small way…..
Well now I know what to get you for Christmas
