These toys are so simple to make and all the kids loved them. Some of the boys we invited to Eli’s birthday have never watched Avatar and I didn’t know if they would like these or not, but I heard from their mum that they have been battling each other in their backyard since the party. Who knew boys and ribbons went so well together.
You will need one ball.
I grabbed a pack of small party balls and painted them white because ribbons at a boy party is one thing, fluorescent pink sparkly balls is just that one step to far.
You will need ribbon.
We cut ours about 1250mm long
You will need two ribbons per ball, Blue for Water Bending, Red/orange for Fire, White for Air and Green or Brown for Earth.
And a length of elastic.
Place the ball in the centre of the ribbon and wrap ribbon over the ball.
then twist it to secure it.
Do the same thing with your second ribbon.
Then tie in place with one end of the elastic.
Tie a finger loop on the other end of the elastic.
Then they are ready to practice their Water Whip and Octopus arms and other bending moves.
Have Fun!
